This site is dedicated to my wonderful chinchillas that I've been lucky enough to have and breed. My name is Karen Snethkamp and I live in Akron, Ohio with my wonderful husband, 6 chins, 1 dog and one Jenday Conure. I have always been an animal lover, since I grew up with dogs my entire life. I've also had rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, sugar gliders, and now CHINCHILLAS!
My main reason for breeding chins is to improve good health and quality for the next generation of chins and hopefully, improving the knowledge needed in owning a chin.
I am not in it for the money, but for the love of chins. I do not have more chins than I can handle, since I think if you have too many they will not get the love and attention they need. They ALL need lots of love and attention and ALL my chins and chin babies will be handled from birth!
- I will not sell my chinchilla babies to a fur farm.
- I will not sell my chins to someone who I think will neglect or abuse them.
- I will never purposely have a breed-back.
- I will give lots of love and attention to all my chins.
- I will learn everything I can about chins.
The whole chinchilla family started with my very first chin, BJ, we bought him back in 1993. He was a standard gray male, who had the personality of a saint. He lived a nice life with his mate, Chloe (who we bought in 1995). They had three wonderful baby chins (three separate births), but unfortunately he was taken from us on Thanksgiving day in 2000 and he never got to meet his third baby he helped conceive. The chins I am holding in this picture are Trystan (on my shoulder) and Smokey (I am holding).
If you would be interested in adopting/purchasing one of my chins, please fill out the chin adoption form available here, and send me an e-mail to let me know of your interest!
